Specialist Display Systems – 3D & Virtual Reality

CHW Consulting has engineered vision systems which allow interactivity by the user in the form of a 3D and Virtual Reality video walls.
The 3D system at Melbourne University, Gypsum Theatre utilizes multiple projectors with image blending on a curved wall. The curved wall allows the user to be further immersed into the 3D video content. The system installed into the Gypsum Theatre is the first Full High Definition (1080p) 3D system in an Australia Educational institution.

Monash University, Victorian College of Pharmacy engaged CHW to design a Virtual Reality system. Making use of three 16:9 projectors, special content is produced to span the 15m wide screen to allow pharmacy students to simulate real life scenarios. The system also has three heads-up displays on large LCD screens which fold out from the ceiling.

Video Conferencing systems and infrastructure is becoming more and more prevalent in not only commercial installations but also educational institutions. It is considered that a high percentage of communication is non-verbal and so users want to be able to not only hear the people they are communicating with, but also see them.
CHW Consulting has designed and managed over 200 integrated Video Conferencing systems for Commercial installations as well as Justice, Health and Education. The systems range from simple one camera, one screen scenarios to multiple pan-tilt-zoon (PTZ) cameras and multiple screen high definition systems which integrate to control systems to provide the user with a high level of control and customization.

Over the past 2 years CHW Consulting has undertaken numerous designs for innovative Collaborative Learning Spaces. These teaching environments allow lecturers to interact more with students than traditional lecture theatre style spaces. New Pedagogy requirements have seen the emergence of this new style of classrooms to encourage the sharing of information amongst the class for all to see easily and quickly.
Collaborative Learning Spaces are proving very popular in Universities. CHW has designed systems for The University of
Melbourne (Chemistry and Engineering LABS), RMIT University and Victoria University.
