Monash University – Virtual Dispensing Labs

CHW Consulting worked closely with Paul Morgan Architects to design an interactive learning space for the Monash University School of Pharmacy. The space included several collaborative teaching spaces, informal discussion areas, laboratory spaces and interview rooms.

The collaborative learning spaces allowed teachers to present content from a variety of media sources as well as the ability to demonstrate practicals to the class. Students were provided with optimal viewing angles and line of sight to ensure that none of the seated students were disadvantaged from any point. The audio visual system also enabled students to work in independently in groups and teams.

Interview rooms were also designed with integrated AV systems to allow students to practice, record and review consultations with teachers.

Project was completed in early 2011.

RMIT University – School of Pharmacy Learning Labs

RMIT University - School of Pharmacy Learning Labs 1CHW were engaged by RMIT University to design and manage the delivery of an innovative audio visual solution for the School of Pharmacy, Bundoora Campus.

Projection systems are provided for traditional lecture mode teaching, with computer, laptop, DVD and video camera sources available for display.

Interactive whiteboards were provided to allow teachers and students to collaborate and discuss their training through display and annotation of multimedia content.

These interactive whiteboards are linked to student desks with three multimedia table boxes, so the teacher or the students can select any of the student’s laptops for display and collaboration.  The collaboration modes, being teacher driven or student driven, is selected by the master touchscreen control panel at the teacher’s desk.

Consulting rooms and a counter for use as a dispensary is also provided for student role play, with audio and video of the session viewed from the learning lab.

Monash – ITS Computer Labs

CHW were engaged by Monash University to design, document and coordinate delivery of the Faculty of ITs new interactive teaching learning space in Building 26 Clayton Campus.

The flexible learning space allows students and demonstrator to share and distribute audio visual content from their computers and laptops in both analog and digital formats. Allowances were also made to integrate videoconferencing, room lighting and centralised management.

RMIT – School of Applied Communications

CHW Consulting was engaged by RMIT University to design a large number of audio visual systems within the School of Applied Communications.

CHW worked in conjunction with RMIT staff and Spowers (Architect) to design a range of teaching and learning spaces as well as specialist audio/video editing suites. Approximately 60 rooms over three levels are involved.

As briefed by RMIT, CHW coordinated a prototype of a collaborative learning space prior to construction to introduce academics and students to the new concept. This learning environment is completely digital, with cutting edge technology and full high definition display devices. It is the first digital collaborative teaching environment of its kind in a Australian educational institution.

The system was to suit each individual space, including meeting rooms, labs, production and design suites, news rooms, dubbing suites, audio post, voice-over, recording studio, chroma-key studio and a cinema with surround sound.

The relocation of the School of Applied Communication was completed in early 2011.

CHW Consulting has worked closely with The University of Melbourne to prepare and provide specifications for the audiovisual and videoconferencing systems.

CHW Consulting has also been appointed the audiovisual consultant for the two new Neuroscience Research Facilities for The University of Melbourne and the Florey Neuroscience Institute.

CHW Consulting has been working with Victoria University on a number of spaces throughout their Melbourne campus.
